We've long suffered through a bipartisan consensus to invade and occupy foreign countries, conduct drone assassinations, poison islands with bomb testing, etc. Few seem to care about our crimes abroad or the vilification of whistleblowers at home. What's happening in Texas and elsewhere is chilling, no doubt, but what is to be expected from a populace that sleep walks through murderous regime-change wars and an imperialist foreign policy? What happened Jan. 6th was a hideous reminder of what our government has been doing for years to sovereign countries. The Democrats just joined with Republicans to pass the most obscene record-high military budget ever, authorizing billions for new nuclear weapons--without giving a second thought to who might inherit all this firepower.
